Since 1970, TRU has taken pride in providing an excellent education to every student who goes to the university - from a wide variety of backgrounds and perspectives, at various stages of the learning journey.
The University is based in Canada with campuses in Kamloops and Williams Lake and offers over 140 on-campus programs and 60-plus Open Learning programs.
These programs are offered in the following faculties and schools:
- Faculty of Adventure, Culinary Arts and Tourism
- Faculty of Arts
- School of Business and Economics
- Faculty of Education and Social Work
- Faculty of Law
- School of Nursing
- Faculty of Science
- Faculty of Student Development
- School of Trades and Technology
TRU also allows students to make the most of their experience through various programs outside classrooms ranging from peer mentor programs, volunteering, radio, studying abroad, sports, and being part of Thompson Rivers University's independent student newspaper and news website.
International students accepted and enrolling at TRU have opportunities of being considered for scholarships and Awards, from sports to academic excellence.
They also benefit from offers of open learning, which allows students to have a traditional university education in a non-traditional way. This is done by giving them options of studying online or by distance at a pace and place that suits their lifestyle.
TRU has a program called 'Homestay' which offers international students the opportunity to develop and practice their conversational skills, as well as to experience Canadian culture in a friendly family setting.
These host families provide students with reasonable daily requirements and a private room with adequate furnishing. Students are also treated as a member of the family, sharing meals and participating in the family's routine and social activities.
