With its official establishment in 2013 via a merger between the University of Glamorgan and University of Wales, the University of South Wales (USW) is both literally and ideologically, built upon the values of teamwork and collaboration.
At USW, prospective students can expect to engage in vocational courses that are made for preparing them with the necessary practical and theoretical knowledge to enter the industry they wish to, after they have completed their studies.
These courses are designed in partnership with business, industry and social economic partners with an aim to address industry needs through the students’ education. Through all of these efforts rooted in collaboration and an emphasis on wide range engagement, the university works towards preparing its graduates to become top-notch professionals of industry.
Furthermore, at USW students will be supported by a range of study paths to pick from to complete their educational pursuits. For those who seek in-person, practically intensive studies, USW has three campuses in the Cardiff, Newport and Pontypridd areas of South Wales to study from, whilst those looking for more flexible distance-learning or part-time studying are also supported by the university, which is part of the reason why they are able to accommodate near 120 nationalities of enrolled students.

The USW Graduate School also accommodates research courses in a number of the various areas of study mentioned above. These courses can be studied at Phd, Master of Philosophy, Masters by Research and Professional Doctorate degree levels, and can also be studied at a part-time, full-time, on-campus, or distance learning rate, depending on the chosen subject.
Beyond that, however, enrolled students who pursue on-campus learning will also be able to indulge in all that South Wales and USW specifically, have to offer. As already mentioned, the university has three strategically located campuses, such that from each campus, student’s will be able to enjoy different aspects of the region.
Students can enjoy the different sightseeing opportunities that include viewing beautiful caves, waterfalls, and mountain sites and enjoying historical castle and manor sites. With regards to nightlife, students will be able to enjoy festivals, galleries and markets in the Cardiff area, whilst clubs, bars, restaurants, and cafes can be found within reach of the different campuses.
