The University of Bradford is a university located in Bradford, West Yorkshire in England.

It serves as a public research university that has claimed a number of accolades, including their School of Management being ranked Business School of the Year by the Times Higher Education Awards 2021, whilst the entire university was ranked 14th on a list of best UK universities in the same year, amongst other achievements.

Archaeology

The University of Bradford's approach to teaching archaeology is "multidisciplinary and research-led, bridging the sciences and the humanities." This means you'll graduate as a well-rounded professional equipped for a career directly related to your studies, but also able to pursue a whole host of different career paths.

The institution integrates traditional archaeology with the practical application of scientific methods that are applied to today's archaeology practices.

Students undergo work placement, a one-year professional training scheme, that has run successfully for over 25 years and greatly enhances the student experience and employability. Students will also have access to outstanding facilities and collections, and have the opportunity to participate in regular field trips.

This course is accredited by the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists (CIfA) and University Archaeology UK (UAUK). Students who have completed the placement year can apply for Associate Membership of the Institute for Archaeologists. 

All of the University of Bradford's archaeology courses can be studied for three years, or for four years with a placement year:

Animation and Game Design

At Bradford, students will learn how to generate and develop ideas, and adopt a creative approach to their work. The university has an industry-experienced team of academics and visiting world renowned experts to assist students with developing the skills needed to become a well-rounded professional.

Students will also have access to the latest industry focused technology to develop their professional portfolio.

Paramedic Science 

Paramedics are an essential part of the current and future NHS workforce. They have traditionally responded to emergencies, but increasing demand for services has seen innovative ways of working across the emergency care system emerge, with paramedics now working in a wide range of environments. This means there are many career paths and specialisms open to students as a Paramedic Science graduate.

The four-year sandwich degree has been developed in collaboration with Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS), and offers a unique salaried sandwich year with YAS in a student's third year.

Students will learn the fundamentals of paramedic theory and practice in both university and ambulance service teaching facilities; they'll also experience clinical placements in the ambulance service (and other selected clinical practice areas) under the direct supervision of mentors, as well as the sandwich year in which the student is employed by YAS in a frontline clinical role.

As a graduate, students are eligible to apply for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Paramedic, which allows graduates to practise in the UK.

The University of Bradford's BSc (Hons) Paramedic Science course is ranked 7th in the UK in the Complete University Guide Paramedic Science Subject League Table 2023.

Forensics

The University of Bradford has a proud history of teaching Forensic Science; it is the first university in the UK to offer it at degree level.

The institution offers high-quality programmes that are at the cutting-edge of the forensics sector.

As a student you'll process and analyse physical evidence from crime scenes, and have the opportunity to take a placement sandwich year in the industry. This is a year in a laboratory environment as a paid employee of an approved organisation, giving students the chance to gain real-world experience before graduation.

Students will develop into a professional with the scientific skills needed to work in areas such as crime scene investigation, forensic science and related laboratory areas.

Biomedical Sciences

Biomedical Sciences studies human biology and disease and seeks to find new ways to treat patients through research. Students will learn both current techniques used in the study of human diseases in the NHS, and innovative technologies under development for experimental treatments. 

Biomedical science is a career at the cutting-edge of medical research.

The University of Bradford's Biomedical Science and Healthcare Science programmes are accredited by the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS), and the institution's healthcare science students spend a total of 50 weeks on NHS pathology lab placements over the course of their degree.

Bradford was the first university in the UK (and one of the first in the world) to introduce an undergraduate degree course in Biomedical Science.
