The University of Greenwich began as the second polytechnic college to have been established in the United Kingdom, offering teachings in technical subjects in particular.
Nonetheless, it was only after over a century of operation, and having taken in a number of colleges in its makeup, that the institution officially established itself as the University of Greenwich as recently as 1992.
The university has three lovely campuses, two of which are situated in London. The first of which is Avery Hill Campus, in Eltham, south-east London.
The campus is ideal for students seeking a qualification in nursing, medicine, social work, and sport-related subjects, and offers student accommodation, as well as student entertainment and restaurant facilities on and around campus.
The second campus is called Greenwich and is the campus nearest central London, but far enough away from the city for the students to enjoy a certain degree of peacefulness during their studies. The campus itself sits on a World Heritage Site and is surrounded by even more interesting landmarks, whilst featuring many facilities that cater to the arts.
Finally, they have the Medway campus, which is located outside of London, in Chatham Maritime, Kent. Facilities on this campus cater well to science and engineering degrees, but not without offering student accommodation halls, restaurants, bars, a cinema, and so on.
Each campus is made not only to cater for a learners’ studies, but also to create a local student community complete with a like-minded, but diverse student body.
Featuring both impressive studying facilities, as well as facilities created for student entertainment, the campuses are also designed to equip students with the functions for a balance between their studies and their recreational activities.
Additionally, the university also boasts innovative methods to their teaching. Study courses are said to be formulated upon a combination of business and industry, with the incorporation of the latest research-informed curricula.
Furthermore, the university has allowed themselves to move with the times, keeping up with the technological advancements that have now become essential to tertiary learning, such as online access to lectures on-demand, and the integration of other necessary learning technologies.
The university has four faculties of learning, which include: Greenwich Business School; the Faculty of Education, Health and Human Sciences; the Faculty of Engineering Science; and the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Science.
