INSEAD is a graduate-only business school with locations in Europe (France), Asia (Singapore), the Middle East (Abu Dhabi), and North America (San Francisco).
Participants usually come from senior or top management, with many years of experience within their company or industry, and younger 'high-potentials' identified as being key in succession strategies within their companies.
Approximately 12,000 executives of around 130 nationalities undertake courses or programs at INSEAD each year In the space of five decades. The institution offers a variety of graduate programs, including MBAs, a doctorate in management, and a certificate program. Here is a detailed look at the programs:
DEGREE PROGRAMMES
- Masters in Management: This is a 14-16 month program that aims to empower the next generation of well-rounded, active thinkers and creative thinkers who are ready to positively impact today's society. The Masters in Management program targets younger individuals with 0–2 years of experience. Students get to also experience study trips to Abu Dhabi, China, and the USA.
- MBA Programme: This 10 months program is designed for early to mid-career professionals and aims to develop their full potential and open doors to global career opportunities. There are 75 electives on offer in areas such as accounting and control, decision sciences, economics and political science, entrepreneurship and family enterprise, finance, and organizational behavior, strategy, marketing, technology, and operations management. Students are required to speak two languages upon entry and a third by graduation.
- Executive MBA Programme: INSEAD has two Executive MBA Programmes called The Global Executive MBA (GEMBA), and the Tsinghua INSEAD EMBA (TIEMBA). Both EMBA programs are master's-level degree programs that take place on a part-time, modular basis. The programs offer experienced business executives an intensive 14–17-month flexible course which takes place in flexible periods (approximately every six to seven weeks).
Both the GEMBA and TIEMBA programs include a schedule of group coaching, 360-degree assessments, and team activities designed to develop a leadership style, called the Leadership Development Programme.
- Executive Master in Change (EMC): This degree is a specialized master's degree that provides a grounding in the basic drivers of human behavior and the hidden dynamics of organizations. Integrating business education with a range of psychological disciplines, the program enables participants to understand themselves and others at a fundamental level, which prepares them to assume roles in leadership, individual and organizational development, and change management.
- Masters in Finance: this program teaches participants finance and accounting skills on par with those taught in an MBA program, and also offers leadership and management perspectives. The program is offered in a flexible format over a 20-month period to allow professionals to study while continuing to work. Participants take time off from work for each of the six modules (2–3 weeks each) to take classes on campus and continue working in between.
- Ph.D. Program: The INSEAD Ph.D. in Management is a doctoral degree in business to prepare students for a career in academia. It requires four to five years of full-time study – the first two years devoted to coursework, while the third and fourth (or sometimes fifth) years are dedicated to research and dissertation. Students have the option to start their studies on either the Asia (Singapore) or Europe (France) campus and do an exchange in North America (USA) through the INSEAD-Wharton Alliance. There are eight areas of specialization: Accounting, Decision Sciences, Entrepreneurship, Finance, Marketing, Organisational Behavior, Strategy, and Technology and Operations Management. INSEAD offers fellowships, whereby students receive a full tuition fee waiver, annual stipend, and research support funding.
- Business Foundation Programmes: INSEAD in collaboration with Sorbonne Université offers the Dual Degree: Business Foundations (BFC) program which is one of INSEAD's most selective degrees. "BFC" is tailored for recent master's or Ph.D. graduates from the sciences, medicine, humanities, engineering, and law. The program equips participants with a broad set of business and economics skills that optimally complement their graduate training. It also supports participants' transition to a business career and helps aspiring entrepreneurs to fulfill the goal of their own start-up by complementing their ideas with a foundation in business and leadership.
