The Anglia Ruskin University (ARU) has a long history in education, dating from its original establishment in 1858 as the Cambridge School of Art. However, its age has not deterred it from evolving beyond its origins to incorporate teaching innovations that have allowed the university to keep up with ever-developing advancements in education.
Throughout its progression, the university has grown to incorporate more schools of study, local campuses, and partner institutions around the globe, accommodating students from at least 185 different countries. In the UK alone, there are four separate campuses dedicated to accommodating different sets of students, and they are at the following locations: Cambridge, Chelmsford, London and Peterborough.
The international partnerships include institutions in Malaysia and Trinidad, each dedicated to various different courses for study. However, the university does not stop at physical locations, and also has a global distance-learning initiative in collaboration with: CNet-Training who offer a postgraduate Masters in Data Centre Leadership and Management, and Cambridge Spark who offer both postgraduate (in Data Science and Digital Technology Solutions) and undergraduate (in Data Science) part-time courses.
Therefore, there seems no limit to the flexibility and reach of ARU’s education, with students all over the world being given the chance to pursue the university’s education. This has clearly proven to the university’s and its students’ advantage, with ARU being ranked amongst the Top 40 UK universities according to The Times Higher Education World University Ranking in 2022, and ending up in the top 15% for social inclusions in The Times Good University Guide 2022.

Furthermore, ARU makes a great effort to effectively integrate new students into the university and ensure their comfortability. The induction takes place online and in-person, and includes: school, course and course leader introductions; meeting faculty staff and being introduced to the Personal Development Tutor system; being assigned a Welcome Buddy; an introduction to the Students’ Union, clubs and societies; and enjoying various campus activities.
