London South Bank University (LSBU) has maintained an attempt to uphold its original mission “to promote the industrial skill, general knowledge, health and well-being of young men and women” since its earliest beginnings. At the forefront of this mission is the aim to adequately equip students for work life challenges in the real world.
LSBU is a part of a group of schools, ranging from primary, to secondary, to college and university level. All schools under the group have developed a general manifesto that defines them as unique, community-oriented, focussed on the preparation of its students for the realities of life both in and out of the workplace, and so on.
The university’s values are set upon five principles, which include: Excellence, Professionalism, Integrity, Inclusivity, and Creativity (EPIIC).
These values are upheld through the following initiatives: Equality and Diversity, Customer Service improvement, Health and Well-being development and acknowledgement, Armed Forces support, support for Menopause and the workplace in a manner that is inclusive, and Safeguarding at LSBU.
All of the above initiatives are ongoing and are detailed further at the LSBU website, all contributing towards creating a space of inclusivity on the grounds of race, gender, mental health, and class at the university. There are a total of seven schools of teaching available at the university and they are as follows:

- LSBU Business School

- School of Law and Social Sciences
- Institute of Health and Social Care
Since the university functions as a breeding ground for student employability, courses among the different schools tend to be vocational (career-oriented) and students are often supported by mentors, whilst also receiving practical experience through means of internships.
